Speak in English please!

Dear Students,

I would like to share a story with you ....

About two years ago I had an exam class, they were about the same level as you are now. Because the students were all highly motivated they were very strict with themselves and only spoke in English in class, and many of them even spoke in English outside the classroom. One evening we had a party to say goodbye to one of the students, and I noticed that two of the men who were both German, speaking to each other in English. I was very surprised and impressed, the atmposhere was very relaxed so it would have been easy for them to slip back into German, but they didn't.

One month later they took their exam ... all the students did well and the two German speakers I mentioned above got VERY good marks.

So, I ask you to consider this story and answer the following questions. Firstly - do you think the fact that these two students were so strict with themselves was helpful in terms of getting a high score in their exam? Secondly, do any of you have any ideas about what we can do to ensure that only English is spoken in our classroom?

I am looking forward to your comments ......

I've read about the two German and it's surprised me too. In fact yes we have to speak English with focusing on 4 things wich are - Spelling - Pronunciation - Reading and the complement. Strict on working leads us to a succesful english language. God Bless You,
and thank you very much.

I am glad that Salem said that he would like to meet some English people - but what can you do to meet English people? It's not easy! Here are some ideas
1) Join a sports club. I have had students join football teams and other teams, and they said that it was a good way of meeting people.
2) Get a part-time job. It's very commom for British students to work and study. This time of year is a good time because shops, restaurants, hotels etc. get very busy coming up to Christmas. If you want a job, you have to go out and find it because it won't find you. You could go to the Jobcentre, or an employment agency. Just going for an interview at the Jobcentre is an opportunity to practise your English.
3) Another idea is volunteer work. Not only a good chance to meet native speakers but also to do something good for the community. Even you have just a few hours a week it can make a difference.

Dear Caroline

I’m very happy to be one of your class students, not because every time I’m learning new things with you, which are very useful, even in day life. Actually because you are great teacher really, you know how to fill the gaps inside us I mean you know how to cover the weakness of the student indeed. Although is not easy but you did it.
Thanks with you my writing have improved not very much, but I can feel that I’m starting to walk in the right path; I really appreciate it a lot.
Thank you again and again
